Backyard Habitat: Spring management

May 01
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
LCCC main campus - details upon registration

Making the biggest impact in our yards doesn’t come from having expensive designer landscaping and the lushest lawns in the neighborhood.  While this might be a pleasure to see, true value lies in the impact your yard has on your local ecosystem.  Fortunately, there are many ways to have both a beautiful, functional, and ecologically valuable yard that benefits wildlife!  Join Danielle as she explores this topic and ways we can add value to our yards with Spring management.  Leave with a handful of free helpful resources from ODNR, Wild Ones Natural Landscapers, Ltd., the National Audubon Society and more!

Free and open to the public via registration.
To register, e-mail Danielle at archerofarcadia@gmail.com

Earth Day Celebration

April 26
10:00am-2:00pm
LCCC Main campus

Lorain County Community College Earth Day Celebration 2023 welcomes everyone on Wednesday after Earth Day, April 26th from 10 am to 2:30 pm in College Center, next to the Starbucks on the main campus.  Shop for this season's plants at the annual spring plant sale with a huge variety of beautiful plants grown in the campus greenhouse by the Plant Propagation students!  Catch Danielle at the educational exhibits with the Black River Audubon Society, Wild Ones, and other community partners like Our Little World Alpacas, OSU Master Gardeners, and more.  Head outside (weather permitting) with Wild Edibles Faculty, Alison McKim who will be leading two herbal walks from 1 to 1:30 pm and 2 to 2:30 pm.  Meet some of the edible and healing plants that grow abundantly on campus and in our local region, and discover how these plants have helped people through history and can help us today.  Celebrate the joyful abundance our planet earth provides and learn new ways to get
involved!
